Merz, Trump discuss Gaza, urge quick conflict resolution

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz held a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, during which the two leaders discussed the situation in Gaza and emphasized the importance of resolving the conflict quickly, as well as securing the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Stefan Kornelius, an official representative of the German government.

“They discussed developments in Gaza. They stressed the necessity of reaching an agreement quickly in the negotiations to be held in Egypt. All hostages must be released, the fighting must stop, and Hamas must lay down its arms,” he said.

According to Kornelius, after nearly two years of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the time for peace has come.
