Avalanche in Nepal leaves 15 climbers missing

An avalanche near the base camp of the Yalung Ri Himal mountain in Nepal early this morning has left 15 people, including foreign climbers and Nepali guides, missing.

Axar.az reports, citing the local police department.

“A group of both Nepali and foreign climbers attempting to climb the Dolma Khang peak reached the avalanche site around 9 am. Their condition remains unknown,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Gyan Kumar Mahato.

According to police, search-and-rescue operations are ongoing. Helicopters have been sent to the area to search for the missing climbers and guides.
