Azerbaijan welcomes UNESCO’s Turkic languages day

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry welcomed UNESCO's declaration of December 15 as the "World Day of the Turkic Family of Languages".

Axar.az reports that this was shared on the ministry's X account.

"In accordance with the historic decision adopted at the 43rd UNESCO General Conference held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, December 15 has been declared the 'World Day of the Turkic Family of Languages". This date coincides with the anniversary of the discovery of the Orkhon-Yenisei monuments—the oldest written monuments reflecting the common roots and shared historical heritage of all Turkic languages.

Azerbaijan welcomes this important decision as a significant step towards celebrating our rich linguistic heritage, promoting global cultural diversity, and further strengthening ties within the Turkic world," the statement said.
