King Charles III becomes the oldest British monarch

King Charles III of Great Britain has become the fifth-oldest monarch in the country's history.

Axar.az informs that this was announced in a BBC report on the occasion of the monarch's 77th birthday.

It was noted that Charles III recently surpassed George II, who died a few days before his 77th birthday in 1760.

In British history, the monarchs older than Charles III were his mother, Elizabeth II (96 years old), Queen Victoria (81 years old), George III (81 years old), and Edward VIII (77 years old), who abdicated.

The king is celebrating his birthday in South Wales, accompanied by Queen Camilla. He will blow out the candles on a cake prepared for him at Kefarthfa Castle in Wales, which is celebrating its 200th anniversary. On the occasion of Charles III's birthday, 41 cannon shots were fired.
