Israeli fire targets UN peacekeepers in Lebanon

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said Israeli forces opened fire on them in southern Lebanon.

Axar.az reports that the peacekeepers stated this.

“This morning, the Israeli army opened heavy machine gun fire from a Merkava tank near its position in Lebanese territory at UNIFIL peacekeepers. This fire is a serious violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006 and also formed the basis of the ceasefire in November last year,” the statement said.
