Azerbaijan plays an important role in strengthening interregional cooperation.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during his speech at the 7th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in Tashkent.

The President of Kazakhstan called the decision of Azerbaijan to join the format of consultative meetings of the Central Asian countries as a full-fledged participant historic:

"Today, a historic decision was made to join Azerbaijan as a full-fledged participant in our format. I sincerely congratulate you on this occasion."

He expressed confidence that Azerbaijan's membership will make a significant contribution to strengthening regional cooperation.
