The authorities of the People's Republic of China are rapidly expanding the facilities where nuclear warhead elements are assembled.
Axar.az reports that the Washington Post wrote about this based on satellite images.
The newspaper notes that Beijing has sharply increased its activities at the main facilities for the production of nuclear warheads, and work has been expanding rapidly since 2021.
In particular, over the past five years, the facility located in Sichuan province, which is engaged in the preparation of plutonium cores for warheads, has undergone serious changes. The area of protected areas here has been more than doubled, and construction work has been carried out around the main production building, including the construction of new buildings.
In addition, since 2019, intensive work has been observed at another facility located in the Zitun region of Sichuan province. It is believed that the explosive material necessary to initiate a chain reaction in the warhead is being produced here. The main construction work is apparently being carried out near the buildings intended for testing the explosive.
