Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has named former Georgian Prosecutor General Otar Partskhaladze as the organizer of businessman Levan Dzhangveladze’s murder.
Axar.az informs, citing 1TV.GE, this was announced at a briefing by Deputy Interior Minister Alexander Darakhvelidze, who said the investigation into Dzhangveladze’s killing has been fully solved.
“After hundreds of investigative actions and the collection of evidence, it has been established who led the organized group responsible for the contract and premeditated murder of Levan Dzhangveladze. Based on this evidence, the Prosecutor General’s Office has formally charged Otar Romanov-Partskhaladze as the main suspect.
The Tbilisi City Court is continuing to hear the case. Partskhaladze has been charged with organizing a contract and premeditated murder under Article 25/109(n) of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which carries a sentence of 16–20 years or life imprisonment.
The prosecution plans to request his detention and has issued an international arrest warrant,” Darakhvelidze said.
Levan Dzhangveladze was a businessman who was killed in Tbilisi on March 14 of this year. He was the brother of criminal figure Merab Sukhumsky.
Otar Partskhaladze served as Georgia’s Prosecutor General in 2013. He was appointed on November 7 and resigned on December 30 of the same year.
