Venezuela declares 7 days of national mourning

On Wednesday, Venezuela’s acting president Delcy Rodriguez announced seven days of national mourning in honor of those who died in the powerful earthquakes that hit the country on June 24.

Axar.az informs that "In tribute to the memory of the victims, I have decided to declare seven (7) days of national mourning, starting from 6:00 p.m. today," she wrote in a statement on X.

"In these moments of deep sadness, we embrace those suffering from this tragedy and reaffirm our commitment to support and protect them," Rodriguez added.

According to the latest official update, the earthquakes had caused at least 2,295 fatalities and injured more than 11,267 people.
