Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian defended his government's decision to allocate oil resources to the country's armed forces, saying he would provide even more support if faced with similar circumstances again.
Axar.az reports, citing Mehr News Agency, responding to criticism over reports that 20 million barrels of oil had been allocated to a military entity (IRGC), Pezeshkian said the move reflected his government's commitment to supporting Iran's security forces.
"Some have asked why it was announced that 20 million barrels of oil had been allocated to a certain organization (the IRGC) and described this as revealing internal information," Pezeshkian said.
"I believe that if the same circumstances were to arise again, I would provide not 20 million barrels, but even 100 million barrels to them, and I would be proud to support them. It is my duty to support the country's armed forces, and I will back them with all my strength."
The president added that "what is clear to all of us is our firm support for the forces that stand for the country's security, independence and dignity," rejecting suggestions of divisions between the government and the military.
"No one should speak as if the government and the armed forces are two separate entities. That is the narrative pursued by the enemies of the Islamic Republic of Iran," he said.
