India tightens oversight of oil imports from Russia, US

dia is requiring its oil refineries to submit weekly reports on oil purchases from Russia and the United States.

Axar.az reports that Reuters disclosed this, citing a source in the Indian government.

According to the agency’s sources, the requirement came from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) of India’s Ministry of Petroleum.

It was stated that this information is important for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office:

“We need timely and accurate data on oil imports from Russia and the United States so that when Washington requests information, we can provide verified figures instead of relying on secondary sources.”

According to the source, India will reduce oil imports from Russia in the coming months, bringing them below 1 million barrels per day.
