Iran sacks local TV boss after anti-Khamenei ‘slip’

The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) announced that the broadcast director of the Hamoon Network in Sistan and Baluchestan Province was dismissed following an error during a live program, Iran International reported.

Axar.az reports that the decision was made after a reporter, while providing live coverage of a rally marking the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, mistakenly chanted the slogan “Death to Khamenei.”

According to published reports, the reporter and the program’s broadcast supervisor have been suspended, and other personnel involved have been referred to a disciplinary committee to provide explanations.

IRIB stated that these decisions were taken in order to maintain professional discipline and safeguard the credibility of the organization.

Mosab Rasoulizadeh, a Hamoon Network reporter whose video of the chant received widespread attention on social media, released a video acknowledging the slip and described it as a “verbal mistake,” apologizing to viewers.
