At least 50 people were killed and several women and children abducted in an attack on Tungan Dutse village in Nigeria’s Zamfara state.
Axar.az, citing Reuters, reports that the assault began around 5 p.m. on Thursday and lasted until early Friday morning, with armed men burning buildings and shooting residents who tried to flee.
According to lawmaker Hamisu A. Faru, villagers had reported the approaching attackers—over 150 armed men on motorcycles—to security forces a day earlier, but the warning was reportedly ignored. Survivors described the scene as devastating, with multiple family members killed.
The incident adds to a growing wave of “bandit” attacks across northern Nigeria, involving abductions, killings, and widespread displacement.
