Trump to travel to China amid trade tensions

U.S. President Donald Trump is set to visit China from March 31 to April 2, a White House official said on Friday, confirming dates for a highly anticipated meeting amid ongoing tensions between the world’s two largest economies.

Axar.az reports, citing Reuters, that Trump is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping during the trip.

The two sides are expected to discuss whether to extend the current trade truce that temporarily halted further tariff escalation. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the details have not yet been publicly announced.

Commenting on the visit, Trump told foreign leaders on Thursday that the trip “is going to be a wild one,” adding, “We have to put on the biggest display you've ever had in the history of China.”
