Trump says 32,000 people killed in Iran's crackdown

President Trump stated that 32,000 people were killed in Iran during recent anti-government protests, a far higher figure than previously reported.

Axar.az, citing CBS, reports that the January demonstrations, suppressed by a government crackdown, included some of the bloodiest days since 1979, complicated by internet blackouts that limited verification of casualties and arrests.

Trump said he threatened Iran with immediate military action if public executions were carried out, asserting that planned hangings of 837 people were halted after his warning.

He also emphasized that Iran “better negotiate a fair deal” on its nuclear program, with U.S. forces reportedly building up in the region and a limited strike under consideration.
