We don’t want a new Cold War, says Brazil's Lula

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva addressed U.S. President Donald Trump following the announcement of new global tariffs, emphasizing that Brazil seeks equal treatment in international trade and does not want to enter a “new Cold War.”

Axar.az, citing CNN Brazil, reports that Lula, speaking in New Delhi during his Asia trip, said Brazil acted cautiously in trade negotiations with the U.S. and plans to discuss the full bilateral relationship directly with Trump.

He also criticized the dominance of the U.S. dollar in global commerce, questioning whether BRICS countries like Brazil and India could conduct trade in their own currencies.

Lula is expected to meet Trump in March to continue these discussions.
