Kyrgyzstan pursues legal action over villa in France

President Sadyr Japarov announced that Kyrgyzstan is pursuing legal proceedings regarding a villa in southeastern France, known as “Château-Qasr,” purchased by Maksim Bakiyev from Boris Berezovsky.

Axar.az, citing Sputnik Kyrgyzstan, reports that according to Japarov, the Ministry of Justice has been handling the case since 2023.

Judicial proceedings may take years, and the possibility of transferring the property to Kyrgyzstan remains uncertain.

Japarov noted that information on the villa was provided by Alexey Shirshov, a former associate of Maksim Bakiyev. He also emphasized that the company “Elkat,” formerly owned by Maksim Bakiyev, has been nationalized and is now fully state-owned.
