Pezeshkian welcomes Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed satisfaction with the progress in the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, describing it as a positive step toward strengthening security and fostering regional cooperation.

Axar.az reports, citing Javan news agency, that Pezeshkian made the remarks during a meeting in Tehran with Armenia’s Defense Minister Suren Papikyan.

"We must act through constructive interaction to build a world where peoples live side by side in peace, mutual respect, and harmony," Pezeshkian said.

He also emphasized that Iran is ready to expand and deepen comprehensive relations with neighboring countries, particularly with Armenia, and noted that Tehran is prepared to finalize a document on a comprehensive strategic partnership with Yerevan.

Pezeshkian underscored that Iran’s policy is centered on supporting peace, stability, and sustainable security in the region, adding that any actions undermining stability would negatively affect all regional states.

In response, Suren Papikyan highlighted successful cooperation in defense, economic, and transportation sectors, stressing the strategic importance of Armenia’s partnership with neighboring Iran.
