US orders non-emergency consulate staff to leave Pakistan

Due to rising tensions in the Middle East, the U.S. State Department has instructed some staff at its consulates in Lahore and Karachi to leave Pakistan.

Axar.az reports according to the updated travel advisory, issued March 3, non-emergency U.S. government employees and family members of U.S. personnel at the Lahore and Karachi consulates are being asked to depart due to safety risks.

The advisory noted that there is no change to the status of the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad.
