US asks Israel to halt strikes on Iran’s energy sector

Trump administration has privately asked Israel to stop striking Iran’s energy infrastructure, especially oil facilities, as part of the ongoing conflict with Tehran.

Axar.az reports, citing Axios, this request represents the first time the United States has sought to rein in Israeli military actions since the joint operation against Iran began more than a week ago.

Washington delivered this message at senior political levels and directly to IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir.

U.S. officials told their Israeli counterparts they are concerned that attacks on energy infrastructure could harm civilian populations, provoke widespread Iranian retaliatory strikes against Gulf oil facilities, and destabilize global energy markets.

The administration reportedly views targeting Iran’s oil sector as a “doomsday option” to be reserved only if Iran directly targets Gulf oil infrastructure first.

President Donald Trump has publicly warned that Iran would be met with much stronger retaliation if it threatens global oil supplies.
