Iran denies requesting negotiations with U.S.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Iran has not requested a ceasefire or negotiations with the United States and is prepared to defend itself as needed.

Axar.az reports, citing Tasnim, he stated that Iran’s actions are aimed at protecting its population and are directed at U.S. military assets and facilities, not civilians.

Araghchi noted that neighboring countries hosting U.S. forces have been used to launch attacks on Iranian territory, prompting defensive measures.

He added that Iran is open to discussions with countries concerned about safe maritime passage in the Gulf, though final decisions rest with its military.

It should be noted that previously, U.S. President Donald Trump had indicated that Iran wanted to reach an agreement.
