Norway willing to discuss measures in Strait of Hormuz

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store has ruled out sending Norwegian naval forces to the Middle East to keep oil shipments in the Gulf flowing. However, he said Norway is willing to participate in discussions on potential measures.

Axar.az reports, citing Norwegian media, Store said: “Participating in efforts to secure the Strait of Hormuz is a discussion we are happy to take part in. But I also note that Norway’s military capabilities are tied to the northern regions.”

Trump had appealed to China, France, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom to join a joint effort to reopen the Strait of Hormuz amid Iran’s threat to mine the passage. About one-fifth of the world’s oil consumption passes through the strait.
