World facing largest energy crisis in past 40 years

Global transformation and the struggle for energy resources, including the conflict in the Middle East, have led to the largest energy crisis in the world over the past 40 years.

Axar.az reports, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, noted that most wars over the past 30–40 years have been linked to competition for energy resources.

“It is clearly seen how the United States of America, for example, all of its recent armed conflicts where it was the initiator, are in one way or another connected with countries that are important for global energy and possess energy resources. The latest is Iran; before that Iraq, Kuwait, Syria, Libya, and so on,” he emphasized.

The consequences of the current energy crisis are not only a shortage of energy resources and disruptions in logistics and transport flows, but also global changes in world trade markets, the deputy prime minister believes.

“Despite all the skeptical assessments that there will be a peak in demand for various energy sources, it will definitely not happen in the coming decade in our lifetime, since consumption of oil, gas, and coal will continue to grow,” Novak added.
