President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he is postponing a highly anticipated trip to Beijing to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping, as the war with Iran has disrupted U.S. foreign policy and delayed efforts to ease tensions between the world’s two largest economies.
Axar.az reports, citing Reuters, Trump stated that "we are resetting the meeting," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. "We're working with China. They were fine with it."
Trump was scheduled to travel to Beijing from March 31 to April 2 for the first trip of his 14-month-old second term. He said the visit will now occur in “about five or six weeks”.
The White House did not provided a specific date.
