Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar has met with Iraqi Oil Minister Basim Mohammed Khudair.

Axar.az reports that Bayraktar announced the meeting on his social media account.

Following the talks, a new one-year agreement was signed to ensure the efficient operation of the Iraq–Turkiye oil pipeline. The document was signed by representatives of Turkiye's BOTAS and Iraq's SOMO and NOC.

Bayraktar said work is continuing on a new long-term agreement for the Iraq–Turkiye oil pipeline, which has served as a strategic energy corridor between the two countries for nearly half a century.

"As part of the dialogue process, we have reached a transitional agreement targeting the transportation of 750,000 barrels of oil per day. The Iraq–Turkiye pipeline plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and uninterrupted delivery of Iraqi oil to global markets through Turkiye's Ceyhan port," he said.

It should be noted that Turkiye Petrolleri recently signed an agreement to acquire a 15% stake in several oil fields in Kirkuk, Iraq, from BP.
