UK summons Iran ambassador over espionage allegations

Iranian ambassador to the UK, Seyed Ali Mousavi, was summoned after an Iranian national and a British‑Iranian dual national were charged last week with allegedly aiding Iran’s intelligence services.

Axar.az reports, citing Reuters, the two men appeared in a London court last week, accused of gathering information and conducting reconnaissance on Jewish targets in Britain over a five-week period last summer, reportedly at the direction of Iranian intelligence services.

"National security remains our top priority, and we take threats posed by Iran and those who do its bidding extremely seriously," Britain's foreign office said in a statement.

"This government will take all measures necessary to protect the British people, including exposing Iran’s reckless ‌and destabilising actions at home and abroad."
