Moscow says Ukraine election issue remains unresolved

The issue of elections in Ukraine remains unresolved, and Kyiv will have to address the question of legitimizing the extension of the president’s term, the Kremlin said.

Axar.az informs “The issue is still relevant, and the Ukrainian authorities will need to decide how to legitimize the continuation of the head of state’s powers,” press secretary to the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said.

The Kremlin also noted that it has not heard any official confirmation that presidential elections in Ukraine will definitely not be held in 2026.

“As far as we know, there has been no formal decision to cancel the elections. These are more speculative discussions,” the statement added.
