Macron urges Iran to negotiate in good faith

A telephone conversation has taken place between French President Emmanuel Macron and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Axar.az reports that Emmanuel Macron shared information regarding the call on his X account.

According to the report, during the conversation, Macron emphasized "the absolute necessity of ending unacceptable attacks against regional countries, protecting energy and civilian infrastructure, and restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz."

The French leader called on Iran to participate in negotiations in good faith to open a path toward de-escalation. He noted that "a framework must be established to meet the international community's expectations regarding Iran's nuclear and missile programs, as well as its regionally destabilizing activities."

In conclusion, Macron "demanded that Iran immediately facilitate the return of French citizens Cecile Kohler and Jacques Paris to France".
