Russia’s Leningrad Oblast bombed first time since WWII

For the first time since World War II, aerial bombs have struck strategic facilities in Russia's Leningrad Oblast.

Axar.az reports, citing Ukrainian media, Serhii Bratchuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, noted that the strikes likely utilized modified light aircraft, such as the Aeroprakt A-22 Foxbat.

Building on a strategy initiated in 2025, Ukraine has increasingly converted ultralight aircraft like the A-22 and E-300 SkyRanger into long-range, remotely piloted strike drones. Capable of hitting targets up to 1,600 km away, these systems have previously reached military facilities in Tatarstan, Chechnya, and Dagestan.

This long-range strike capability was specifically developed to bypass Western restrictions on using missile weaponry against targets deep inside Russian territory.
