Russia eyes Donbas withdrawal deal with Trump

Moscow is working to compel a Ukrainian withdrawal from the Donbas by leveraging back-channel arrangements with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, Ukrainian journalist and analyst Serhiy Harmash, explained that as early as last August, Russian leadership recognized that a total military seizure of the Donetsk region was unattainable within their projected schedule.

"Consequently, Moscow is attempting to exert pressure on Washington by citing frameworks supposedly established during unofficial discussions in Alaska," Harmash observed.
