Hungary urges restoration of Druzhba oil supplies

Oil supplies from Russia via the “Druzhba” pipeline are of crucial importance for Hungary, and Budapest hopes that Ukraine will restore its operation by the end of April, as previously promised.

Axar.az repоrts that this was stated by Peter Magyar, leader of Hungary’s Tisza Party, which won the parliamentary elections on April 12.

“This is very important, and Hungary simply cannot afford to give it up at the moment. If it were to try to do so now, it would be completely impossible from a geographical point of view. Russia will remain where it is, and so will Hungary,” he said while speaking on the Kossuth radio station about oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline.

It should be noted that since January, Russian oil has not been delivered via the Druzhba pipeline to refineries in Hungary and Slovakia. Budapest accuses Ukraine of halting oil supplies through the pipeline for political reasons. Ukraine, in turn, says the Druzhba pipeline is under repair and is expected to resume operations by the end of April.
