Authorities have identified the suspect in Saturday night’s shooting outside the White House Correspondents’ Dinner as 31-year-old Cole Allen of Torrance, California.
Axar.az reports, citing CBS, according to law enforcement, Allen graduated from the California Institute of Technology in 2017, one of the United States’ most prestigious science and engineering universities.
The institution confirmed his graduation but provided no further details about his field of study or post-graduation activities.
Allen later worked for C2 Education, a private tutoring company based in Torrance, where he reportedly received a “Teacher of the Month” recognition in December 2024. It remains unclear whether he was still employed by the firm at the time of the incident.
Local authorities also confirmed that Allen had no employment history with the Torrance Unified School District, contradicting earlier speculation about his professional background.
Investigators are continuing to examine his recent activities, including a search of a residence linked to him in Torrance, California, where federal agents were seen late Saturday.
Officials have described Allen as a “lone actor,” though his motive remains under investigation.
