Erdogan holds call with Iraqi PM candidate Zeidi

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has held a phone conversation with Mohammed Ali al-Zaidi, a candidate for prime minister in Iraq.

Axar.az reports, citing Anadolu, Erdogan congratulated Zaidi on his nomination and expressed confidence that he would form an inclusive, balanced, and stable government in Iraq as soon as possible.

During the conversation, Erdogan stressed that Turkiye has significantly advanced its strategic and institutional cooperation with Iraq and aims to further strengthen these ties in the new period.

He also underlined that the Turkmen community constitutes a key element of the brotherly relations between the two countries.

In addition, Erdogan noted Turkiye’s determination to advance cooperation with Iraq in areas such as the Development Road Project, counterterrorism, defence industry, energy, and transport.

It is noted that Mohammed Ali al-Zaidi has put forward his candidacy for the position of prime minister in Iraq.
