Zelensky declares ceasefire from May 5–6

Ukraine has not received any official request from Russia regarding the suspension of military operations, contrary to claims circulating on Russian social media.

Axar.az reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made the statement on his Telegram account.

“We believe that human life is incomparably more valuable than the ‘celebration’ of any anniversary. Therefore, we are declaring a ceasefire starting from 00:00 on the night of May 5–6,” Zelensky said.

He noted that maintaining the ceasefire during this period is realistic.

“We will act in the same way from that moment,” he added.

It should be noted that Russia announced a ceasefire for May 8–9 a day earlier.
