Israel, Lebanon talks set for Washington next week

The third round of talks between Lebanese and Israeli officials could take place in Washington next week.

Axar.az reports, citing JP, that the meetings are expected to be held at the U.S. State Department, possibly on Wednesday-Thursday or Thursday-Friday, although the exact schedule and level of representation have not yet been officially confirmed.

According to the report, the Lebanese delegation is expected to include former ambassador to Washington Simon Karam, current Ambassador to the U.S. Nada Hamadeh Moawad, Deputy Chief of Mission Wissam Boutros, and representatives of the Lebanese army.

It is noted that the sides have already held two rounds of talks in April with U.S. mediation.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stated that Lebanon is “not heading toward normalization, but toward peace with Israel,” emphasizing that the negotiations are aimed at securing a full Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon, resolving disputed border points, and enabling displaced residents to return.
