North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has sent a congratulatory letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of Victory Day.
Axar.az reports, citing Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), that in the message, that Kim congratulated the Russian leadership and people on Russia’s victory in the Great Patriotic War and paid tribute to war veterans who “destroyed fascism” and defended global peace and security.
"I take this opportunity to pay high respect to the war veterans of the preceding generation who destroyed fascism and defended the freedom and liberation of mankind and the peace and security of the world with their matchless bravery and noble patriotic spirit, and to the Great Years," the letter said.
The North Korean leader also praised the growing ties between Pyongyang and Moscow, saying the two countries are writing “a new brilliant history of independence, dignity, peace and prosperity.”
"I am always pleased and proud of the fact that we, together with you, are leading the present DPRK-Russia relations and writing a new brilliant history of independence, dignity, peace and prosperity suited to the common ideal and desire of the peoples of the two countries," Kim stated.
Kim reaffirmed Pyongyang’s commitment to strengthening its “comprehensive strategic partnership” with Russia and pledged to fulfill the obligations outlined in bilateral agreements between the two states.
“Pyongyang is always with you and the fraternal Russian people,” Kim said, while also wishing Putin success in defending Russia’s “dignity and interests.”
