Iran sets five preconditions for talks with US

Iran has set five preconditions for resuming negotiations with the United States.

Axar.az reports, citing Fars News Agency, that an informed source stressed these conditions are minimum confidence-building guarantees required before entering any new round of talks.

The five conditions include an end to military operations on all fronts, particularly in Lebanon, the lifting of anti-Iran sanctions, the release of frozen Iranian funds, compensation for war-related damages, and recognition of Iran’s sovereign rights over the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the source, Iran has also informed a Pakistani mediator that the continuation of maritime blockades in the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman after a ceasefire further undermines trust in any potential negotiations with the United States.

The report adds that Tehran views these conditions as necessary safeguards for rebuilding trust, insisting that without their implementation, a return to negotiations would not be possible.
