Ushakov signals possible Putin-Trump meeting in China

Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov has confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner will visit Russia in the coming weeks.

Axar.az reports that the precise dates of the visit remain unknown.

"We are expecting a visit by Witkoff and Kushner in the coming weeks," Ushakov said.

Ushakov, in an interview with Channel One, also stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump are unlikely to turn down the opportunity for a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the APEC Summit in November 2026 in China.

“I think that if both leaders are in China, they will likely meet and hold a conversation. Nothing has been agreed yet, but since such a prospect exists, it is unlikely either side would pass it up,” he said on Wednesday.

Asked about the prospects for other Russia–U.S. meetings, Ushakov added: “There is currently no talk of a summit-level meeting.”
