Iran and Oman in talks over Hormuz ship payment system

The New York Times reports that Iran has discussed a potential partnership with Oman involving fees for services provided to ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Axar.az informs according to the report, Tehran is not proposing a simple toll system for the waterway, but rather a broader mechanism where vessels would be charged service-related fees as part of talks with the Gulf state.

Sources cited by the outlet say Oman initially rejected a joint arrangement with Iran but is now discussing a possible revenue-sharing model linked to the strait.

The report adds that it remains unclear whether the talks will lead to any concrete agreement.
