US has not confirmed Iran placed mines in Strait of Hormuz

Washington has not confirmed that Iran placed mines in the Strait of Hormuz, NBC News reported, citing two US officials and a person familiar with the matter.

Axar.az informs, according to the report, US and allied countries’ intelligence suggested early in the war that Iran was mining the strait, but underwater sweeps by the US failed to turn up anything that could be definitively identified as a mine.

“If anything, the threat has been far less robust than we had feared,” the person familiar with the matter is quoted as saying.
