Zelensky says ready for direct talks with Putin

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has said Ukraine is ready for any format of diplomatic negotiations to end the war, including direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Axar.az reports, citing RBC-Ukraine, speaking during a press conference in Kyiv with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Zelensky said Ukraine remains in contact with the United States regarding the involvement of negotiators, but the process is taking longer than expected.

“We are waiting for the arrival of a negotiating team, but in my view, it is taking a very long time,” he said.

“Unfortunately, we are not the focus today. Iran is the number one issue for the US, and only then comes Ukraine. Unfortunately, it turns out that we are standing in the queue of these wars,” he added.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is ready to support any format that could bring an end to the war more quickly, including direct negotiations with Moscow.

"I am ready for direct negotiations with Putin to end this war rather than wait in line until everyone finishes all conflicts in the world and only then it reaches us," the head of state said.
