Iran claims strike on US Navy destroyer in Gulf of Oman

The Iranian military says it targeted the command and control center aboard a U.S. Navy destroyer in the Gulf of Oman.

Axar.az reports, citing ISNA, Iran's army said the action was carried out in response to what it described as hostile actions against Iranian commercial vessels in the Gulf of Oman and violations of regulations governing the Strait of Hormuz by the U.S. military.

In a statement, the army said its navy targeted the “command and control center” of those operations, which it said was located on a destroyer belonging to the United States.

The statement did not provide details regarding the extent of the damage or possible casualties.

There has been no immediate comment from U.S. officials on the claim.
