Bagrat Galstanyan placed under house arrest in Armenia

In Armenia, the leader of the “Sacred Struggle” movement, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, said in court that a Court of Appeals judge has replaced his detention with house arrest.

Axar.az reports, citing Armenian media, the decision was announced during a court hearing on June 4.

Galstanyan criticized the ruling, questioning why the court changed its decision compared to a previous ruling in December.

The case involves 18 defendants accused of preparing acts of terrorism and attempting to seize power. The court has begun examining evidence in the case.

It is noted that 18 members of the “Sacred Struggle” movement are accused in a case involving “preparation of a terrorist act and an attempt to seize power.” The movement’s leader, Galstanyan, and his supporters were arrested at the end of June last year.

The next court hearing is scheduled for June 11.
