Military training evasion to carry prison terms in Armenia

A prison sentence of 1 to 3 years is provided for evading military training exercises.

Axar.az reports, according to the Prosecutor’s Office of Armenia, the government has announced training and exercise assemblies for reserve soldiers, sergeants, and officers.

According to legislation, citizens who are on the territory of the country are obliged to report to the military commissariat after receiving a summons.

In this context, several Armenian Telegram channels have claimed that restrictions have been imposed on the departure of military-age citizens arriving from Russia. It is reported that these individuals are not being allowed to leave the country so they can be sent for military service or training exercises.

According to the claims, the restrictions also apply to those who came to Armenia to participate in the voting held on June 7. However, this information has not been officially confirmed.

Previously, reports had also circulated that summonses were being issued to reservists at Yerevan Airport.
