Zakharova alleges Western interference in Armenia elections

Armenia’s parliamentary elections were held in an atmosphere of unprecedented pressure on the opposition and interference from the West.

Axar.az informs that this was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

“On June 7, parliamentary elections were held in Armenia amid unprecedented pressure on the opposition and interference from the West, primarily the European Union,” the diplomat said.

She noted that the preliminary results announced by Armenia’s Central Election Commission indicate that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party, despite declaring victory, “did not obtain a monopoly on power.”

“Moreover, compared to the previous electoral cycle, its support has declined noticeably,” Zakharova added.
