El Chapo seeks deportation to Mexico in letter to President

The former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzman, has sent a new letter requesting that Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum deport him back to his home country, Mexico.

Axar.az reports that Guzman described his trial as unfair and claimed that the Mexican government is responsible for the violence linked to organized crime in the country.

“The unproven violence was unfairly used in my sentencing, when it was the Mexican government that committed the homicides and I was blamed for trying to protect my life and my family in Mexico.”

It is noted that Guzmán was sentenced in 2019 in the United States to life imprisonment for drug trafficking and is currently being held in a maximum-security prison in Florence, Colorado.

The Sinaloa Cartel is considered one of the largest drug cartels in the world. According to unofficial estimates, El Chapo’s fortune is around $14 billion.
