Hague Court rules on 10-year Kerch Strait and Azov dispute

The Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague has issued a ruling in a 10-year dispute concerning rights in the Kerch Strait, the Sea of Azov, and adjacent waters of the Black Sea.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, the court recognized Russia’s rights as a coastal state in the Kerch Strait, the Sea of Azov, and the waters of the Black Sea around Crimea, while rejecting Ukraine’s key claims, including demands related to sovereignty, compensation, and access to resources.

It is also noted that the tribunal dismissed Ukraine’s request to declare the Kerch Strait an “international strait” and rejected calls for the removal of the Crimean Bridge.
