Tehran sees no imminent U.S. military escalation

Iranian leaders believe the country has weathered weeks of heavy U.S. and Israeli strikes and do not expect Washington to follow through on threats to resume the war.

Axar.az reports, citing Associated Press, Tehran views U.S. President Donald Trump's warnings about restarting military operations as unlikely to materialize.

The report notes that Iranian officials believe the country's demonstrated ability to close the Strait of Hormuz and disrupt the global economy serves as a significant deterrent against renewed military action.

AP added that Iran's leadership is projecting confidence after remaining in power despite the recent conflict, viewing the survival of the government as a key strategic achievement.

Farzan Sabet, an Iran expert at the Geneva Graduate Institute, described Iran's "real victory" as its survival despite the scale of the attacks.

"It’s too much to say that Iran has emerged a victor, but it could have been much worse,” said Farzan Sabet, an Iran expert at the Geneva Graduate Institute think tank. “I think that the real victory for Iran was … survival."
