Armenia’s Constitutional Court will review on June 26 the appeals filed by seven political forces challenging the results of the parliamentary elections held on June 7.
Axar.az reports, citing Armenian media, the court accepted the applications submitted by the “Strong Armenia” bloc, the “Wings of Unity” Party, the “Democracy, Law, Discipline” Party, the “Prosperous Armenia” Party, the “Defenders of Democracy for the Republic” bloc, the “Armenia” bloc, and the “New Power” Reformist Party.
The court said that the cases concern the same dispute over the Central Election Commission’s decision summarizing the results of the June 7 parliamentary elections.
Therefore, they have been merged and will be considered during a single hearing on June 26 at 11:00.
The appeals challenge the legality of the election results rather than directly requesting only their annulment.
It should be recalled that the Central Election Commission announced the final election results on June 14. According to the results, the “Civil Contract” party won 49.7456% of the vote and secured 64 seats, the “Strong Armenia” bloc received 23.2710% and 29 seats, while the “Armenia” bloc won 9.9231% and 12 seats. “Prosperous Armenia” narrowly failed to cross the 4% threshold required for parliamentary representation.
