CHP resignee Levent Koc joins Turkiye’s ruling AKP - Video

Levent Koc, the mayor of Haymana who resigned from Turkiye's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), joined the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) on the same day.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan personally presented Koc with his AKP party badge following the AKP Ankara Organization Meeting.

Reports had previously indicated that several district mayors could join the AKP during Erdogan's visit to Ankara, with Koc among the names expected to switch parties.

Koc was elected mayor of Haymana as a CHP candidate in Turkiye's local elections on March 31, 2024.
